Job Description

Our client, a leading recruitment firm with a strong North American presence, is seeking a Business Developer to join their team in New York. This role is tailored for self-managed hunters who can generate new logos, negotiate MSAs, and build business from scratch in high-margin verticals, specifically IT OR Accounting/Finance.

The Role and Responsibilities  

As a Business Developer, you will:

  • Prospect and open new accounts while reactivating lapsed opportunities in IT or Accounting/Finance
  • Own client relationships end-to-end, from need qualification to final placement
  • Negotiate agreements and MSAs with new clients
  • Partner with a delivery team handling candidate sourcing and recruitment operations, allowing you to focus on new business
  • Deliver consultative solutions that add value beyond resumes
  • Shape your portfolio—either niche-focused or broader coverage
  • Identify opportunities for growth and potentially step into leadership as the business expands

Skills and Qualifications you need to be successful 

  • Proven hunter mentality with demonstrated ability to bring in new logos and negotiate MSAs
  • 2+ years in staffing, recruitment sales, or business development, ideally in IT or Accounting/Finance
  • Strong consultative selling skills and relationship-building abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple client relationships and a high-energy pipeline
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and results-driven

 Value Proposition

  • Base salary up to $120,000, depending on experience and portable business
  • Commission structure: 10% GM commission initially; transitions to a draw model after 6 months (35% perm, 45% contract)
